as performed at the Musical Creation workshop
The Mother-Daughter Musical is:
Our genre: the documentary musical. Sorta like a song-cycle, but way more.
as in “documentary theater” such as Vagina Monologues or the plays by Anna Deavere Smith; works that begin with real interviews with real people about their real lives and experiences
as in a bunch of songs on stage, but more specifically as in “Concept Musical
similiar to Chorus Line or Cats – a collective portrait from multiple characters, with separate songs and stories that, together, present a many-sided theme.
(in contrast to the “story” musical, everything from Oklahoma! to Hamilton , plays and songs that are plot based, with on-going central characters.)

Singer: Megan McLaughlin. version 9b
very much a work in progress. two very different versions.
The sweeter version hangs together more as a song, and has the better vocal.
The older voice version is on it's way to being better, but not there yet.
